EGYPT 2010: INITIATION ALONG THE NILE
You are invited to partake of a remarkable journey to the ancient and still-vibrant home of sacred ritual and initiation, Egypt. This land is a living monument to the soul of humankind, and it calls us to remember both our origins and our future.
Initiates of the Ancient Egyptian Mystery Schools were invited to awaken their memories from the time before time, and were guided in initiations to create renewed regeneration of psyche and body. These rituals, teachings and initiations are as relevant today as they were in ancient times, for they serve as dynamic portals to the potent possibilities that lie within us all.
As we travel from Upper Egypt at Abu Simbel to Lower Egypt at Alexandria, we explore the timeless temples of Ancient Egypt, sail the Nile, and stand in awe at the foot of the Sphinx. Along the way we will examine the hidden temples of our minds and souls as we enter shrines, sanctuaries and traditions of sacredness and magic that have held their potency for lo these many millennia.
Jean and Peggy will present processes and exercises each day that will bring us to the discovery of our own inner initiate. Some of these teachings will take place on the original sites on which they were first performed. Rich beyond imagining, this exploration of the inner realms, while savoring the majesty of eternal Egypt, will create a journey like no other.
Reflections from a passenger on our 2008 Egypt Trip:
What was more wonderful?
- Singing in the colorful tombs, or watching a light show at the grand temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel under a full moon?
- Or was it cruising the Nile from Aswan to Cairo, past the rural villages of Biblical times, pausing to visit Luxor in horse drawn carriages?
- Or taking a felucca to Elephantine Island, formerly the stopping place for the Arc of the Covenant and a vital artery of the elephant trade, and then relaxing at tea with fellow travelers on the gently sprawling sun deck and watching the sun go down while sailing the Nile?
- Or was it visiting the local markets and negotiating for Nubian mint tea, or lemongrass, or hibiscus or Arabian dates or stopping by the perfumery for Lotus and Rose and Sandalwood?
- Or watching the whirling dervishes in Cairo, visiting a famous mosque, stopping to see the oldest Coptic Synagogue where the Christ Child was hidden while Herod searched for him?
- Or reverently making the climb into the King's Chamber at Giza for blessing and ceremony?
- Or was it the very last afternoon of sitting out by the pool at Mena House with friends and proprietary birds, sharing Egyptian lentil soup and tea and biscuits, while gazing at the pyramids of Giza and wishing to remember this wonderful trip forever?
